Activision Is Giving Away 500 DJ Hero Demo Kits

Despite solid reviews (including from us), DJ Hero isn't selling quite as well as Activision would like. Perhaps the $120 price tag has something to do with it? Could be. The fact remains that the game is quite good in spite of that hefty price tag, but people don't really "get it" until they actually get their hands on it.

To get the game in the hands of more people, Activision is giving away 500 DJ Hero demo kits. They come with a wired turntable controller and a game disc with just a few songs on it. The idea is to give people a taste and hope that they'll buy the real game. Will it work? Who knows, but free stuff is always awesome. 1 vs. 100 Live Season 2 Now On Xbox Live

The best thing on Xbox Live all through Summer 2009 was 1 vs. 100 Live. The trivia game show where you get to play with between 10k and 100k+ of your closest friends was addictive, satisfying, and incredibly fun. Now the show is back for season 2. Aside from some aesthetic changes, season 2 (and all seasons afterward) offers up 200 Gamerscore and 12 Achievements you can earn by playing the game, which is a little extra incentive that keeps it interesting even if you don't make it into the mob or get to be the One. Left 4 Dead 2 Review (X360)

On the surface, Left 4 Dead 2 seems like the same game as the original L4D as the gameplay and setup and everything are awfully familiar. When you dig a little deeper, however, you find a game that is improved in just about every way. The presentation is better, the campaigns are better, there are more modes, and the wealth of new weapons make the gameplay quite a it deeper than it was before. Left 4 Dead 2 is a better game than the original and definitely worth a look.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Review (X360)

Never before has a game shaped the release landscape like Modern Warfare 2 has. Other publishers were scared of Activision and Infinity Ward's latest project and delayed their own games because of it. That is completely awesome. And you know what? It was justified. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is one of the best selling games of the HD generation and Modern Warfare 2 improves on that winning formula in just about every way. This is a must play game.

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast Review (X360)

My secret shame as an Anime fan is that I have always really liked Dragon Ball and DBZ. I know it's not particularly deep or well animated, but darn it, I like it, which is why I always look forward to the yearly DBZ fighting games. This year's game, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast, does a lot of things right - it looks and sounds great and has tons of characters and modes - but it is crippled by clunky gameplay and an awful camera system that make it hard to enjoy even for a diehard DBZ fan. 1 Million Xbox 360 Pirates Banned - What It Means For Normal Gamers

The big headline this week (other than Modern Warfare 2) has been Microsoft bringing down the ban hammer on anywhere between 600,000 and 1,000,000+ people that have modified their Xbox 360 to play illegal copies of games. This is a good thing. Those pirates do not deserve sympathy. And anyone who thinks they were justified in stealing games is just completely, utterly, dead wrong. This whole ordeal raises a few questions for honest gamers, however, and I'll try to answer them here.

Rumor: Project Natal Coming November 2010, Low Price

I don't usually post rumors unless I'm pretty sure they're true (even if it is a gut feeling, I haven't been wrong yet), so take this with a grain of salt, but it is likely going to be true.

MCV UK has a story up today about launch details on Project Natal leaking from a secret Microsoft tour. They claim that -

Natal will launch worldwide in November 2010
It will cost less than �50 (around $80 U.S. dollars)
Will have 14 games for launch

These things are all roughly in line with what we thought it was going to be anyway. Microsoft can't make it too expensive or they'll kill it before it even comes out, so $80 (or less as a few other things are indicating) is a great price. This isn't confirmed, but it makes sense so I'm inclined to believe it.

LEGO Rock Band Review (X360)

LEGO Rock Band is a more kid-friendly game than other music/rhythm games have been, but underneath the LEGO veneer it is still pure, classic Rock Band. It plays great, has a decent list of songs, and the trademark LEGO videogame silly humor still works really well here. It is cute, and fun, and funny, and definitely still rocks. Tekken 6 Review (X360)

Tekken 6 offers 40 characters, plenty of modes, and the great gameplay that the series has always been known for. It doesn't look as nice as other Xbox 360 fighters, and the Scenario Campaign is pretty darn awful, but the core gameplay is still really, really good which makes Tekken 6 worth playing even if there are some rough spots in other aspects of the game. Band Hero Review (X360)

Band Hero is Guitar Hero 5 with pop songs. That is all you really need to know. All of the improvements to the modes and gameplay and presentation that were introduced in GH5 are present in Band Hero, which means it is a pretty darn good game as long as you like the song list. This Top 40 rock and pop, mainstream-friendly song list is going to give longtime GH fans fits, but for everyone else (parents, family, girlfriends, non music snobs) there are a lot of great tracks that are a lot of fun to play.
