SAT Math Practice for Dummies

Look, I'm not a math genius - not by any stretch.

And really, there are few people out there who are.

Regardless, you still have to take the stupid math section on the SAT. Can you do it? Have you prepared? The next SAT test is coming up on November 7, so I sincerely hope you've done something to get yourself ready besides count all the facebook� comments you had after posting that nasty message about your ex boyfriend.

In case you're a slacker (and, no, Iwould never assume you were), but just in case you've put off studying for the math portion of the SAT until this very moment, then relax.

Go to your favorite quiet nook...pick a serene moment to begin...maybe sip on some tea or burn some incense or something...

and cram some fractions like a math tutor� is chasing you with a giant calculator.

Here's a free SAT Math practice test to get you going.

After that, you're on your own. You're the one who waited until this very moment to begin.

Slacker.

iPhone - iLive

With everyone from tech developers at Apple to high school kids in Europe creating� iPhone apps these days, the number of apps available for download have soared into the 70,000 + range. (Read - Are you serious?)

Yes, apparently, in order for our lives to be fulfilling, rewarding, and effective, we need to download iPhone apps like Fromage, the guide to 380 cheeses around the world or Zombie Pizza, a game where you feed zombies their... er... snack. For the musically inclined, there are apps to tune your instrument, play the piano, and even play your iPhone like a flute. For the mom, there are apps to teach your toddler ASL, monitor your baby, and offer parenting advice when you're ready to scream.

For the test-takers, there are iPhone apps to help prep for the SAT, GRE and everything in between.

It's ridiculous. How am I supposed to figure out which iPhone apps are helpful? Annoying? Buggy? Worth the $4.99? With so many to choose from, I'm thinking I need an iPhone app to tell me which iPhone apps to choose.

Guess I'm going to have to hire a high schooler with much greater app development knowledge than I currently possess to create that one for me.

I'm pretty sure I won't be able to live without it.

LSAT Scores are Huge!

Law school admissions advisors across the country stress the importance of applicants involving themselves in extracurriculars, striving toward a skyscraper GPA, and getting some law experience before applying.

What they fail to mention, however, is the importance of the LSAT score itself.

According to Bill Griner, a law school advisement counselor with Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, "The LSAT score is more [important] than GPA and grades combined. The four years that you spend in undergraduate school is less important than the four-hour test you have to take to get into law school. I'm not sure why that is, but it's the truth."

So if you're relying on that internship and the 4.18 GPA to get you into one of the top law schools in the country because your LSAT score is in the 140's, then you'd better rethink your strategy.

That score isn't going to cut it.

SAT on Saturday, October 10!

Well, kids, it's that time...SAT time! Saturday, October 10, high school students around the country will be sitting down for the SAT test.

Are you one of them? Have you prepared?

If you're relying on your good looks to get you the SAT score you really want, you should consider looking in a mirror.

Ya just ain't that pretty. No one is.

The fact is, the SAT test doesn't care how you look. You know what the SAT test cares about? The right answer. And your parents (and prospective universities) care about the same thing.

So don't disappoint everyone, okay? If you've waited until now to start preparing, you're a little late.

But late is better than never, so cram for the SAT a little bit while you're busy explaining the late registration fee to your parents.
