Nike Air Pegasus Berlin Wall

The 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall is next week. To help mark the commemorative event - Capitalism's superhero sneaker brand Nike has designed a pair of shoes for treading all over those "dirty Commies."

Kidding aside, these are actually a decent looking pair of sneakers. Had Nike avoided their itch to emphasize the commemorative Berlin wall aspect of the design - I'm referring to the "eco-finish" stone effect of their swoosh, they would have better. The faux stone effect looks like those goofy fake rocks people use to "hide" their keys in their lawn. You know - the rock that looks nothing like a rock. So if Nike had just made that swoosh a solid gray - I think we would have still gotten the message and these sneakers would have been golden. The colorway itself is gray/black/purple with a leather, mesh and suede upper. The sneaker design utilizes purple contrast stitching and also implements lacelocks with "Berlin" on one of the locks and "1989" on the other shoe's lock. The sneaker finishes off with "Berlin 89" stitched onto the back of each heel.

Nike Snowboarding Zoom Force 1

Nike has a new colorway out next week in the Zoom Force line of snowboarding boots. It's a standout design that will likely turn heads - even when you're not pulling tricks on the slopes.

This Zoom Force 1 features a bold red/black colorway with a gold Swoosh logo. A tiger/animal print is incorporated through the boot's overall colorway scheme. The tongue also features an unusual printed logo that appears to be a tiger-striped bunny vampire. It's more or less a mean looking rabbit's head with fangs and animal print.

Keep an eye out for these Zoom Force 1's to drop in select Nike retailers on November 9th. In the meantime, you can start gearing up for what's already turning out to be an early snowboarding season.

Vans Authentics Neon Pack

With the time change over the weekend - it's easier to get depressed from less light during the day. But grab a pair of the newest colorways from Vans featuring the Authentic as the base for this pack - and bring back some brightness.

This Authentics sneaker pack features three neon colorways in either yellow, blue or orange. They feature a canvas upper and rubber midsole with color matched striping. The sneakers finish off with white eyelets and color laces to match.

It's another simple design from Vans - and they're available now through select retailers or online.

New Balance Norse M670

New Balance teamed up with Copenhagen's boutique brand Norse Projects to bring this M670 sneaker model available now.

The design features a navy/mint green and gray ("petrol") colorway. The upper is finished in mesh and suede. The sneaker also features a UK flag embroidered on the tongue - as the sneaker was assembled in England.

They're a pricey pair of Newbies at 128 Euros (currently $189), but you can grab a pair now through Norse online. You can also have a look at some of the other New Balance styles currently available.

Fila Mack Squad

Are you down with The Smurfs? Fila and Japanese streetwear brand Mackdaddy seem to think you might be. The two brands have teamed up for a sneaker collaboration that would make Smurfette herself blush.

Dubbed the Mack Squad - this sneaker design features a sky blue colorway finished with a leather and patent upper. A faux fur "M," no doubt the Mackdaddy nod, is stitched onto the back panels of the sneaker and features a Fila logo embroidered into the upper corner of the letter itself. These definitely are a pair that will turn a lot of heads. Just what those heads will be thinking upon seeing these on your feet is another subject.

The Mack Squad is scheduled to hit select retailers mid November. In the meantime, you can always have a look at some of the other Fila sneaker styles available now.

Vans Vault Half Cab LX

One of the latest from the Vans Vault collection kinda reminds me of the Good Guy boots Chucky wore in Child's Play. They sorta look like something you'd see on a kids doll, don't you think?

Kidding aside, these Half Cabs feature a black colorway with white contrast stitching and piping. The more or less standard vulcanized rubber sole is also featured on these sneakers. They finish off with a white inner lining and shoe laces to match. Overall, a relatively basic design that really stands out with the black/white contrast.

The Vans Half Cab LX's are available now at Vans Vault retailers with a sticker price of $85.

Here is a sneak peek at the latest Gucci X Nike collaboration to be released in the first week of November.

The new Nike Big Nike features the standard, and not surprising, Gucci colorway insignia on a classic sneaker model. If you're into "premium-looking" things, or flossing designer labels, then this latest drop from Nike is right up your alley.

If you feel like being creative this week, you can super easily create your "own collaboration" with Gucci and the sneaker brand of your choice. Simply grab any white or black canvas or leather sneaker and add some chunks of color wherever you want with red and forest green paint markers. If you want to go the extra mile, go to Africa or your local craft store, grab what could be croc skin, slap it on and voila...

That simple. Or, you could buy these.

New Balance M1400 Holiday Pack

It's that time of the year again - the end. Can you believe it? Yeah, well, besides 2009 coming near and dear to it's end - the sneaker companies are getting ready to churn out their holiday collections that their hoping you'll go and scoop up as gifts for whomever - including yourself. New Balance has already released one of their special holiday packs - featuring the classic M1400 model as the base for this series.

The three colorways in this release are relatively "safe" - meaning they don't feature red metallic uppers with green faux fur toe box and a set of golden laces. New Balance does tend to stray from their formulaic colorway selections every once in awhile to provide some really offbeat sneaker collaboration designs. Those patent leather sparkle Rasta's ring a bell? But for the most part, and maybe unofficially, New Balance is known for their simple styling. The three colorways featured in this New Balance M1400 pack in either green/navy, tan/maroon or black/blue - finished in a suede and leather upper.

Nike Terminator Low Basic

For over a hundred bucks, Nike is betting you'll drop the loot on something so super basic, like the Nike Terminator Low Basic.

So basically, what you get is what you see here. I'll give you my take on Nike Terminators. I'm not too crazy about the Lows, but the Highs can be cool in fun colorways or any primary color with black. The Lows, seem a little weeble wobbly at the toebox and not structured as sturdy as its Dunk brother.

On the positive side, The Terminator is more flexible, lighter on the feet and setup like Nike Blazers on the soles. You can find these easily at any mall near you. Or, you can browse through some cool Nike Terminator HIGHS right here:

Adidas Top Ten 30th Anniversary

Adidas is dropping a commemorative sneaker in celebration of the Top Ten Hi's 30th anniversary. I'm all for celebrations but - after 30 years - was this seriously the best design idea that Adidas could come up with?

The sneaker features a gradient colorway - mainly composed of a semi- metallic gray - and touches of black, red, blue added onto the sneaker. The material of the upper consists of leather and suede - finished with black patent stripes. There's a "30" commemorative logo imprinted on the backside of the sneaker - the rear ankle also features a printed 1979 - 2009 toward the top, with the dates separated by a small Adidas logo. The "30" logo appears again on the tongue of the sneaker. Overall, it hardly seems fitting to commemorate such a classic sneaker with such a disenchanting design - but sometimes that's just the way it goes.
