UK Businesses Sought for Energy Saving Trial

Exhausto, a company specializing in ventilation and air flow products is looking for companies to trial their new CAS 8002 chimney automation system.

The trial will take place between summer 2007 and summer 2008 has a goal of helping the participating companies reduce their energy costs.

Build Smart Program Helps Lower Utility Costs

Florida Power & Light has introduced it's new Build Smart program as a way to encourage builders to adhere to energy efficient guidelines in exchange for the Build Smart certification.

Partnering with FPL on this project is Build Smart for Humanity. Their goal is to help educate homeowners to ways that they can lower their power consumption and their electric bills, and help Habitat for Humanity construct energy efficient homes for thier clients as well.

The program is highlighted in a recent Sun Sentinel article promoting its benefits.

Pump Prices Up Again

For four consecutive weeks, the US has seen a dip in the gasoline inventories. The US Dept.of Energy blames the drop partly on lower imports and refinery maintenance. Coupled with an increasing demand for gasoline, prices soared again this week to a national average of $2.551 for regular unleaded, and $2.749 for diesel according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.

Daylight Saving - An Energy Saver?

Daylight Saving Time begins at 2:00 a.m. this Sunday, March 11, 2007. Moving your clocks forward happens three weeks earlier this year than in the past because of a new law signed on August 8, 2005 by President George W. Bush. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. so that the Departement of Energy can study the effects of the change on energy use in the US. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress who will decide if Daylight Savings will remain as is, or if it will revert back to April.

Green Grid Announces Open Call For Members

The Green Grid announced Monday an open call for membership.

"The Green Grid welcomes any company interested in joining a committed group seeking to improve overall power efficiencies, starting with data centers. End users and technology suppliers are encouraged to join and help drive the creation of platform-neutral specifications and metrics."

Membership levels are priced at $25,000 and $5,000 per year.
