Paper beads are great fun to make. Use your favorite rubber stamps to create your own custom decorated paper which is perfect for making paper beads.

Paper beads can be made more robust by giving them a coat of clear varnish. This makes them waterproof as well as extremely hard wearing and this makes them ideal for many projects.

Paper beads can be used to make a variety of gifts. Use them to make jewelry or charms for friends and family. Here are some tips for making paper bead gifts:

When you are making paper beads make a few extra to keep to one side, this will be useful for last minute gifts
Add glass beads and other embellishments to help give some sparkle to the finished item - they also help to add some weight to the beads which are otherwise very light
Keep a look out for unusual findings that you can use to hang paper beads, for instance keyring fobs or cell phone lanyards

Phindy's Place Digital Stamps

I've been excited to find Phindy's Place, which is a new digital stamp company. The digi stamps are the work of children's book illustrator, Philomena O'Neill, who has created a range of delightful characters.

The digital stamps are available through the Phindy's Place store. Being a children's book illustrator, Philomena's designs have a wonderful attention to detail, with each design telling its own small story. However, she has also ensured that there is still plenty of scope for a stamper to bring the stamps alive in their own individual way through the use of color and embellishments.

One of the reason's why Philomena started to offer digital stamps is because of the interaction that it gives her with her customers. In particular, she enjoys seeing how people transform her images and adding their own interpretation. Philomena says that shes like to think of her original drawing and the coloring and embellishing of the digi stamp image as a collaborative effort between artists. This is a lovely approach and I can certainly see why, after creating such beautiful designs, Philomena enjoys seeing how stampers develop the ideas further. The cards in the photographs are great examples of this - click on the link under each card to go to the card artist's website.
