Sports Bra Recommendation

It may not be the prettiest sports bra I've seen, but it's by far the best! I recently took the Enell Sport out for a rather vigorous workout, and I have to admit it's the first time I could wear one sports bra instead of two. (I usually wear two layered over each other, plus a sports tank with a shelf bra.)

There was some bounce when I was actually jump roping, but it wasn't that painful kind of bounce that makes you stop what you are doing--it was kind of a "natural" bounce that didn't impede movement. Since I think the one I had on was actually geared toward the lower-impact spectrum, that's really impressive--it doesn't get more high-impact than jumping up and down as high as you can go, and in one place!

If you have trouble choosing a sports bra (perhaps because you've given up on finding a good one?), this could be a smart one to test out. Let's just say... it was on Oprah.

Do You Do Treggings?

Are you a fan of treggings? While I don't wear this look with heels, I'm pushing all my plus friends to buy a pair for the season just for wearing boots. There is really nothing worse than trying to slide a pair of "plus-size boots," which barely fit over tights, over jeans instead. My bulky jeans never work well with any of my boots, and it makes me insane! What about you? Do you run into the same problem with jeans and sleek knee-high boots?

Treggings can be scary, but they sure are useful for those of us with knee-high boots that aren't so roomy. These particular treggings are available at UK shop New Look, which is currently carrying sizes 18 and 22 for around 23 dollars. They do ship to the States and Canada.

Tell me, would you dare to rock treggings?

Plus-Size Modeling Opportunity

I get so many emails from people who want to be plus-size models, and every single time, the interested individual is super striking. I would totally hire people in a flash if I were an agent, but I'm not. If you would like to have an opportunity to be considered for a national modeling gig, read on!

Catherines is looking for a new plus-size model to represent their label, and if you are chosen through their search, you will score a two-year contract with Dorothy Combs, a premier plus model agency (and my personal favorite).

I was just over at the modeling contest page, and they have a pretty cool section where you can "meet" all of their current models, and learn about their day-to-day lives. I highly recommend you check it out, even if you're not planning on submitting yourself for consideration. I LOVE reading about models and their "real lives"!

Glamour.com Drops the Ball for Plus

Gabi from Young, Fat, and Fabulous, was recently featured on Glamour's Best Dressed site, but their shopping suggestions truly peeved me. After they featured her plus ensemble of mostly thrift finds, they had shopping suggestions that were nowhere near plus-size, and we're not talking XXL, either. I mean, there was an Alexander Wang, a cropped top from Topshop to size 12, a sequin shirt in S-M-L-XL... come on!

While I know that Glamour has gotten some plus-friendly press lately, I don't want to let them off the hook. If you're going to feature a plus reader who's dressing well, at least do her the courtesy of offering suggestions in her size. While Gamour was quick to say that "[...]Since Gabi's pieces were vintage, I had a hard time sourcing similar items in any size. Also I wanted the look to be accessible to all readers," I feel like they are presenting an idealized version of her ensemble. Boo!

And as for the whole "sourcing" argument, that's definitely a poor excuse. Case in point:

Loving the Manfattan Project

I found The Manfattan Project via Monif C. via Musings of a Fatshionista, and I love it! This plus-size blog is dedicated to street style with a plus-size only edge (yessss!), so we not only get to take a peek at what plus women are wearing on the fashionable streets of New York, but we get some inspiration for our own wardrobes as well.

It's just so fun to page through their Sartorialist street-style shots of gals on the street doing their thing. They definitely need to update more, because I bet we will all be checking it out for sure!
