Eliminate Clutter and Donate to a Great Cause

Sometimes it can be difficult to muster the motivation to eliminate clutter, and we all need a little encouragement. I came across a fantastic opportunity the other day to eliminate clutter and donate to a great cause.

Yard Sale for the Cure encourages participants to host a yard sale on May 30, 2009, and they will supply you with a yard sale kit. After the sale, you choose to donate all or a proceed of your profits to help fund the fight against breast cancer.

Creating Closet Space When There is No Closet

One drawback to the closet in my basement apartment is that there is no closet. Since I own a lot of clothes and shoes, it was imperative that I create a closet space.

To provide a temporary and affordable solution, I incorporated a few storage options that accommodate my clothing, accessories (purses, scarves and hats) and shoes.

Is there a space in your home that you are proud of? It could be an entire area such as a bedroom or family room, or a small area such as a hallway or closet.

This picture for example is of my favorite bedroom. It was functional and stylish and I immediately felt peaceful when I entered the room. In essence, an organized space should make you feel relaxed.

Today's Tip: Organizing a Basement Apartment Part 2

To continue sharing my basement apartment organization success, I began with the area that required the most attention, which was my my bathroom. This is where my day starts - showering, brushing my teeth, hairstyling, makeup application, the list goes on.

Therefore, it was important to get my bathroom in order, and I successfully managed to do it without spending a lot of time or money. Now my bathroom space is maximized with adequate and functional storage solutions.

Next time you will see how I created an efficient bedroom space and bedroom closet - without an existing closet!

I thought that maybe every week my son and I would pick 2 items of clothing to donate. On the same day, we would put it in a small bag and bring it to the drop off location rather than wait for a large bag to accumulate.

Today's Tip: Condense Packaging for Easy Organizing

I like to stock up on my favorite items and store them until they are used. Packaging on most items can be big and bulky and take up a lot of space. In order to maximize my storage space, I have found an easy solution.

I eliminate the packaging, recycle them if applicable, and store the products together in Ziploc bags. This is an easy and affordable way to organize my favorite products.

Today's Tip: Organize Your Kitchen Spices

I like to cook and I have accumulated a lot of spices. Determining where to store your spices can be tricky because they take up a lot of space. The key to organizing your spices is to use a tool that helps you to maximize the cabinet or drawer space.

Fortunately, my mom introduced me to a great product that has helped tremendously to organize my spices. My cooking preparation and clean-up time has decreased considerably because I can now find my spices easily. What a great find!
