Yesterday, I got a sneak peek at the new ICE! Exhibit inside the Gaslight Theater. The theme for this year's ICE! Exhibit is Charlie Brown and it includes the whole Peanuts Gang. Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, with the help of Schulz family, have created an incredible exhibit - one that I'm sure Charles Schulz would be proud of. The ICE! Exhibit opens today and runs through January 2nd.

Nashville Christmas Music 24/7

At the beginning of every Christmas Season I have a hard time remembering, from last year, which radio stations play Christmas Music all day long so I usually have to spend about 20 minutes skipping from station to station until I find just the right one and this year was no different.� Scenario sound familiar?

So just where can you listen to Christmas Music in Nashville 24/7 especially when your stuck in Nashville Traffic or worse yet driving in circles trying to find a parking spot in Downtown or at the local Shopping Mall?

As far as I know there are only one two local radio stations in the Metro Nashville Area that play Christmas Music 24/7. They are 94FM: THE FISH and Mix 92.9.
Both 94FM and 92.9 signals reach to about 30 miles from Nashville so most of the EMA can listen to it

If you know of any other local radio stations that carry 24/7 Christmas Music let me know or post it below and we will add them to our list too.

A Country Christmas Lighting Ceremony - tonight!

Kick off the holiday season tonight at Gaylord Opryland with their star-studded holiday lighting ceremony (2 million lights) on the Magnolia Lawn.� The lighting ceremony officially begins their annual "A Country Christmas" holiday celebrations.
Participants this year include:

Montgomery Gentry, currently celebrating ten years of country music hits.
Paula Deen, celebrity cook, Food Network star and restaurateur.
Louise Mandrell, beloved country music singer, and star of Louise Mandrell's 'Joy to the World' Christmas Dinner and Show.
Jeannie and Craig Schulz (wife and son of the late, legendary Peanuts cartoonist Charles Schulz) with Charlie Brown and Snoopy.
The Radio City Rockettes
TSU Marching Band and other celebrities.

Opryland's A Country Christmas Opens in Nashville

One of the best display of Holiday Lights in the country happens right here, in Nashville, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center during their annual "A Country Christmas" celebration.
It's filled annually with a ton of Holiday cheer that includes over 2 million Holiday Lights, Gingerbread Houses, Santa Claus, Charlie Brown Ice Sculptures, Holiday Shows, and more that will delight the entire family.
Read some fun and interesting facts about this annual event and you too will see why this Wonderful Winter Wonderland is on the top of our Christmas Events year after year.

Mid-TN Community Profile: Montgomery County

Montgomery County was established 1796 and was named after Colonel John Montgomery, a Revolutionary War officer, founder of Clarksville and signer of the Cumberland Compact. Colonel Montgomery was killed by Indians in Kentucky in 1794. Montgomery County encompasses 539 square miles.

Nashville's Annual Holiday Lights Competition

Nashville residents are invited, once again, to share the holiday spirit by decorating their homes and yards for Nashville's Official 22nd Annual Holiday Lights Competition. This annual event is sponsored by Mayor Karl Dean, Metro Public Works, Metro Beautification and Environment Commission, Nashville Electric Service and NewsChannel 5.
The Holiday Lights Competition is open to all residents of Davidson County, and awards are made in each of the 35 Council districts with five regional winners, and one countywide winner selected. The deadline for entering is Friday, November 23rd-only 10 days away!

If you are hunting for some of the best Christmas Lights in town -then make sure to check out their website because they list the 2008 winners (with addresses) as well as some of the previous year's winners too.

Saving the Tennessee State Fairgrounds - Is it worth it to Nashville?

Since Mayor Dean announced the imminent closing of the Tennessee State Fair Grounds, I have been inundated with plenty of emails on the subject.
Most of which are simply everyday folks asking why our local government has decided that it's in Nashville's best interest to cease operations of the fairgrounds...after over 100 years? What plans are in store for the property and neighborhood? Where do I stand on it personally? And more importantly, what can be done, at this point, to save the Historic Tennessee State Fairgrounds?
Is it worth it to Nashville?

Nashville Searching for the Perfect Christmas Tree

Nashville Metro Parks is asking for help in finding the perfect tree to serve as the centerpiece for the city's holiday celebration, this year.

Metro Parks' Horticulturalist Randall Lantz said the Parks Department is looking for a 30 to 40 foot Norway Spruce that looks good from all angles.
"It's really important that the tree look good all the way around because it will be viewed from all angles. We prefer for there to have been little to no pruning," explained Lantz.
The parks department prefers a tree that either needs to be removed for some reason or has outgrown its location
They will also come out and cut down the tree, grind the stump, and plant a replacement tree, if desired.

The Annual Nashville Holiday Celebration is scheduled for 6 p.m. December 4 at the Metro Courthouse.
