Go Ice Skating -- The Pond at Bryant Park is open for skating this weekend. The Lasker and Wollman Rinks in Central Park are also open, so what are you waiting for?

Spit & Twit -- Join Bottlerocket and City Winery for the first-ever, real-time interactive wine tasting. Taste more than 100 wines from all over the globe, then use Twitter to broadcast and compare notes with other winos as you sample. Tickets are $35 -- or 2 for the price of 1 if you purchase online.

Meditate NYC -- Get centered at this free day of meditation with instruction by speakers from a great variety of meditation traditions. The event takes place on Sunday from 3pm-7pm at Judson Memorial Church (55 Washington Square South) and is sponsored by the New York Buddhist Council.� The Sunday event also kicks off a week of free open houses at dozens of meditation groups and dharma houses in the five boroughs.

Yankees Ticker Tape Parade Today

Don't miss today's ticker-tape parade to celebrate the New York Yankees' World Series victory. Here's what you need to know about the Yankees parade in Lower Manhattan today:

The parade will begin at Battery Place and Broadway at 11:00 a.m. and proceed northbound on Broadway, ending at Chambers Street/Worth Street.
Large crowds will begin gathering along Broadway early on Friday morning (there were a few guys camped out already when I passed through at 10:30 last night). Give yourself time to navigate through the screaming mob.
The NYPD may begin street closings on Broadway several hours prior to the 11:00 a.m. start of the parade. Pedestrians will be able to cross Broadway at the following locations: Exchange Alley, Wall Street, Cedar Street, Cortlandt Street, Fulton Street and Reade Street.
Stick with public transportation if you're traveling to Lower Manhattan today. The following subway lines will get you to the parade: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, A, C, E, J, M, N, R, W, Z. Word from the MTA is that the 4,5,6 trains are likely to be packed and you may want to consider the 1, J, M, Z, R, or W for less crowded service.

Blooomberg Re-Elected

Mayor Michael Bloomberg defeated Bill Thompson last night to win a third term as Mayor of New York City.

Bloomberg is the first New York City Mayor to win a third term since Ed Koch in 1985.� At last tally, Bloomberg had spent almost $100 million on his third mayoral campaign.

In other election news, John Liu won the race for city comptroller and became the first Asian-American elected to citywide office. Bill de Blasio was elected as Public Advocate by a wide margin and Scott Stringer was easily� re-elected as Manhattan Borough President (his fellow Borough President incumbents in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island were also re-elected).

Election Day in New York City

Get out and vote today in New York City's general elections today.

The race to watch in Manhattan is the showdown between Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Comptroller William Thompson for New York City mayor.

Recent polls indicate that Thompson has narrowed Bloomberg's sizable lead. Last week's numbers show Bloomberg with 50% and Thompson with 38%. Who will get your vote for mayor of New York City?

Races for public advocate, comptroller, borough president, and city council seats will also be decided by tomorrow's election. Not sure where you're supposed to vote? Go to www.vote.nyc.ny.us to find your poll site.

It rained on our Village Halloween Parade last night, but we New Yorkers simply reveled in the downpour or put up our umbrellas. We saw old friends, partial nudity, strange creatures,� a live llama, and much more.
