Pre-Black Friday In-Store Makeup Deals

Yesterday I shared some of the pre-Black Friday online deals for all of you that want to get shopping done early. As promised, for those that don't feel comfortable shopping online I am sharing in-store makeup deals in order to help you with your pre-Friday shopping. Here is the list, as well as some black Friday deals as well.

Pre-Black Friday Deals

Walgreens - They have tons of great pre-Friday deals. The ones that stand out to me are 50% off certain fragrances, 2/$5 and 2/$10 Color Workshop Beauty Kits, 2/$5 Personal Care Gift Sets, 50% off Rimmel, BOGO Free on various Revlon products, and they have some great drugstore brand fragrance sets for only $10 each.

CVS - They have some great deals as well, but remember that most discounts come when you scan your CVS discount card. Some of the deals include assorted cosmetic sets for $9.99, select drugstore fragrance sets for $9.99, stocking stuffer fragrances are 2/$19.99, Rapid Lash is $49.99, Almay and Revlon products are BOGO Free, drugstore fragrance stocking stuffers are Buy 2 Get 1 Free, and women's & men's regular fragrances are BOGO 1/2 off.

Rite Aid - Right now they have Revlon eye products are BOGO Free, Physicians Formula and Prestige are BOGO 1/2 off, fake nails and eyelashes are BOGO 1/2 off, Maybelline face & eye products are BOGO 1/2 off, and various coupons in their flyer to save on bath and fragrance sets.

Meijer - They are a little skimpy on the pre-Friday sales, but here are the deals: 1/2 off Maybelline (Thursday only), Neutrogena BOGO 1/2 off, and Massini nail or lip 2/$3.

Wal-Mart and K-Mart don't have much as far as ads go, but I personally saw several great beauty gift sets for $10-$20. Wal-Mart has a variety of Maybelline eye kits and K-Mart has a good selection of Sally Hansen nail kits.

After Thanksgiving Deals

CVS - BOGO Free Revlon and Covergirl, plus great discounts on fragrance sets.

Walgreens - 75% off various women's fragrances, BOGO Free Neutrogena, and Yes to Carrots Body Butter for only $3.99.

K-Mart - Barbie Jetting Beauty set for $19.99, various drugstore fragrance sets for $14.99, Image Essentials Bath Set for $19.99, 4-pc White Diamonds set for $24.99, and TWC Beauty Palettes for $14.99.

Thanksgiving is only a couple of days away and I don't know about all of you out there, but I have already started shopping. I do a lot of shopping online because you can snag some really great deals, normally get it shipped for free, and you can do it while in your PJ's with absolutely no makeup on. Get Your Vamp On for New Moon

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" premiered at midnight and according to the LA Times it has already creamed Harry Potter sales from this past summer. So for all the Twilight fans out there I'm here to remind you to make sure to get your vamp on, not only this weekend but also daily via your makeup collection. I know there is a lot of Twilight and New Moon merchandise flooding the market right now, but the Twilight Beauty line ranks at the top of my 2009 favorites list. Rewind Your Age, not Your Bank Account

There are three things a foundation needs in order to become a staple in my makeup bag: 1) Ease of Use. 2) Good Color Match. 3) Don't Make me Look Older Than I am. Those three "musts" aren't too much to live up to, or at least I don't think they are. I mean, I could get super picky and say that it has to be 100% natural and can't cost more than $10. Well actually, one of my favorite "cheap" foundations is under the $10 mark so score another point for it!

Say No to New Sally Hansen Nail Polish

I'm not a huge fan of wearing nail polish, especially with kids, college work, and then using the computer all day every day for work and everything else in between. Basically, I have to find a really great nail polish that dries fast and lasts long. So recently I decided to try Sally Hansen's New Insta-Dry Fast Dry Nail Color in Wined-Up and Night Flight. After trying both colors and allowing them to dry, as directed, I began to wish that I didn't try them at all.

Let's just say that within a day of normal activity half of my nails had already chipped. And let's face it, I'm a mom and a writer not a carpenter or construction worker, so there is nothing that I could have done to chip my polish within a day. Just for giggles, I decided to leave the polish on to see how it would look by the end of the week. I was very unhappy with the outcome. The polish was cracked and chipped on every single nail, and it looked like I had been wearing the polish for 2 weeks or more. So my personal opinion is that you should just say no to the new Sally Hansen Nail Polish, and instead use that $5 for something better.

Eye Makeup First? Absolutely Not!

So I was reading through some beauty blogs when I came across one that talked about how we are putting on our makeup backwards. Apparently, makeup artist Kate Lee believes that you should apply your eye makeup first (especially when doing a smokey eye) before any other makeup. Why? Because if you have what I like to call "eyeshadow fallout" then it won't end up ruining your concealer, foundation, or powder.

Well now I'm going to give my personal opinion on this. Honestly I don't think that is a good idea at all, and I will tell you why. First, if you apply your eye makeup first and then your concealer you risk the possibility of blending your under eye concealer with your eye makeup, which would give you a really bad raccoon eye. Second, the general rule of thumb is to apply your blush before your eye makeup because it gives you more balance so in the end you won't end up with Tammy Faye eyes. And third, it's much easier to apply your concealer and foundation, and then if needed apply a liberal amount of loose powder slightly under your eyes and on your cheeks area in order to catch the fallout from your eyeshadow. This step will allow you to simply take a powder brush and sweep away the excess, leaving no traces of eyeshadow or powder behind.

So should you apply your eye makeup first? I say absolutely not! What do you all think? I seriously can't be the only one, so feel free to leave your opinion and comment.
