Waiting for Justin Bieber, Teens Swarm Roosevelt Field Mall

Unless you're under 21 or the parent of a teenager, you might not know who Justin Bieber is.... or even how to pronounce his name. (It sounds like "beeber.") But anyone shopping at the Roosevelt Field Mall last week will certainly never forget his name.

A tween clothing store at the mall, Justine, announced that the teenage heart-throb from Canada would be appearing there. About three thousand teenage girls showed up, with or without their parents. Some lovestruck girls even chanted, "We want Justin!" But they never got to see the 15-year-old Canadian singing sensation because the event was cancelled.

Nassau County police were called in to help disperse the crowd and several people sustained minor injuries. The pop star sent out several "tweets" to his fans on twitter, asking them to leave the mall. This included the messages: "They are not allowing me to come into the mall. If you don't leave I and my fans will be arrested as the police just told us." and "The event at Roosevelt mall is cancelled. Please go home. The police have already arrested one person from my camp. I don't want anyone hurt."

Cold Spring Harbor Lab Presents Free Lecture by NY Times Writer

On Sunday, November 29 at 4:30 p.m., New York Times science correspondent Nicholas Wade will give a lecture entitled The Faith Instinct: How religion evolved & why it endures. He will also be signing copies of his new book of the same title.

Black & White Ball at Oheka Castle on December 3

Huntington Hospital will present its annual gala, the Black & White Ball, at Oheka Castle on Thursday, December 3rd. Cocktails start at 7 p.m., followed by dinner at 8. There will be a Vegas-style casino, musical entertainment, and live auction.

Klezmer Ensemble to Perform This Saturday, Nov. 21

On Saturday, November 21, enjoy the exuberant music of Metropolitan Klezmer, whose sounds blend traditional Yiddish music with Latin jazz, swing and more. The Village Voice hailed their performances as "electrifying." There will be a pre-concert discussion at 7 p.m. and the performance will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will be held at Temple Tikvah, 3315 Hillside avenue in New Hyde Park, NY. Tickets purchased in advance are $22 for temple members, $27 for non-members, $10 for children under 16. At the door, tickets are $36.

Osprey's Dominion to Install Wind Turbine

This month, Osprey's Dominion Vineyards held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate their future wind turbine. Starting next spring, the North Fork vineyard will have a 100-foot tall wind turbine to produce their own energy. East Energy Systems of Mattituck will install the turbine. With a LIPA rebate and a federal tax incentive, the vineyards will save in the neighborhood of $8000 a year in energy costs. Osprey's Dominion will be the first in the area to take advantage of this type of green technology.

Live Theater at Ethical Humanist Society on Saturday

In the mood for a murder mystery? Do you enjoy live theater? Then buy tickets for Night Watch, a thriller about a woman who discovers a dead body in an abandoned building but can't convince anyone to believe the story.
