Did you know that Adam lived 930 years? While studying the lineage of Adam down to Joseph I wondered if Adam, because he lived so long, was alive at the time of the flood and if so was he taken to heaven with Enoch's city of Zion?

See this article and the spreadsheet I made to discover the answers to these questions. In doing so I also discovered some other amazing things, including how many years had passed, since the beginning of time, until the flood.

Wanted: Photos of LDS Temples at Christmas

I'm looking for photographs of LDS temples at Christmas time. The grounds around the Salt Lake Temple are beautifully decorated each year, but what about other temples? Witness of The Book of Mormon

I love The Book of Mormon! Last November I began reading it again from cover to cover and recently finished it (just under a year) on October 9th. Although I've read The Book of Mormon many times, this time I specifically focused my study by using a scripture journal. While studying each chapter I would write down my thoughts, impressions, and questions. I often wrote out specific words, phrases, and even entire verses that touched me.

Frequently I used the other scripture study helps (footnotes, Index, Bible Dictionary, etc.) to read related scriptures from the other books of scripture. Using these scripture study techniques greatly increased my learning and enjoyment of the scriptures.

Through the power of the Holy Ghost I know The Book of Mormon is true.

LDSInfertility.org

There's a new site for those (and their loved ones) who struggle with infertility at LDSInfertility.org. This website's focus is to be a place "to gather, share, learn, think, help, and to hopefully make sense of the feelings that infertility brings to couples..." (LDSInfertility.org, homepage). The site has some great content and resources, including facts, scriptures, quotes, and helpful comments submitted by site visitors.

Although the site is specifically geared toward members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), it is open to people of all faiths.

Personally having some family and friends who've struggled with infertility, I feel this site will be a wonderful help in providing resources for infertile couples, and their friends and family members who are learning how to support them in this trial.

Poll: How Close Is Your Nearest Temple?

When President Monson announced the Church's plans for building five new temples he said something that I thought was amazing:

"Worldwide, 83 percent of our members live within 200 miles (320 km) of a temple. That percentage will continue to increase as we construct new temples around the world" ("Welcome to Conference," 179th Semiannual General Conference, October 2009).

I found this very interesting and have been wondering how close most members worldwide are to a temple. I believe a large percentage of members live in very close proximity to an LDS temple so I made this fun little poll.

Seek the Fountain of Truth Not the Fountain of Youth

In this month's Ensign magazine the first presidency message, by President Thomas S. Monson talks about truth. This article particularly caught my attention because of my own recent musings on "What is Truth?" which I wrote about just a few weeks ago.

In his article President Monson says:

"Although there is no fountain of youth that we may wisely seek, there is another fountain containing more precious water, even the waters of eternal life. This is the fountain of truth" ("Finding Strength through Obedience," Ensign, Oct 2009, 4-8).

I love the comparison used in this article about not seeking after a fountain of youth but after the fountain of truth.
