Diamonds on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Runway

Marisa Miller was the diamond girl at last night's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. She walked the runway in a bra set with 150-carats of white and colored diamonds valued at $3-million. Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas performed at the show -- Fergie wore several white gold and diamond pieces from Cartier, including a $1.1-million cluster necklace. Jewelry on models was all about bold shapes and color, exactly what you would expect to see at this kind of event.

Celebrity Jewelry at the 'New Moon' Premiere

You'll see lots of black and white diamonds when you page through the New Moon premiere gallery. Like author Stephanie Meyer's long necklaces, shown here. They're by Neil Lane and looked fabulous with her gown. Large cocktail rings were popular and so were wide (but delicate) cuffs and stacked bracelets.

Does this Swarovski Necklace Look Familiar?

I don't usually cover missing persons on the Jewelry Web site, but jewelry could be an important clue in a current case. You might have heard about Morgan Harrington, who disappeared from a Metallica concert on the University of Virginia campus in Charlottesville on October 17. Virginia State Police released this photo of a Swarovski necklace with three large crystal-studded links in the front. Smaller (but significant) chain links wrap around the neck, and an adjustment chain dangles at the back. The necklace is said to be very much like jewelry Morgan wore on the night she disappeared, and is showy enough that, if you saw it, you would probably remember it. Police and Morgan's family are asking for tips from anyone who might have seen a young woman matching her description (link below) or found a similar necklace.

Madoff Jewelry Brings Top Dollar

Some of the personal items seized by Federal Marshals in the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme fiasco were auctioned yesterday, bringing in about $1-million dollars, twice as much as originally estimated. Ruth Madoff's diamond pendant earrings fetched $70,000 -- three times the expected amount. A pair of Cartier onyx and diamond earrings brought the same price. Several other pieces of jewelry formerly owned by Madoff and his wife did well, but bids on a few vintage watches didn't bring the minimum and remained unsold.

One of the most insane bids was for three duck decoys. Valued at about $50, the trio sold for $11,500. Hopefully the money recovered from this and future auctions (for big-ticket items, like Madoff's homes and boats) will actually go to the people who were impacted by the scheme.

Jewelry Hits and Misses at the CMA Awards

Taylor Swift's jewelry scored a hit at last night's County Music Association Awards, where she became the youngest person ever to be named Entertainer of the Year. Faith Hill looked fantastic in long diamond ropes from Neil Lane, and Nicole Kidman chose a classic pair of diamond hoop pendant earrings. Reba McEntire went trendy with a wide black bracelet packed with dangling chains.

The misses have to include Michelle Branch, whose massive bib necklace looked out of place against her gown and petite frame.

All About Turquoise

I think we often visualize the color blue when we hear the word turquoise, but it's a gemstone that exists in other colors, including my favorite, bright green Orvil Jack turquoise from the Blue Ridge Mine in Nevada.
