Predators Director Revealed!

Despite rumors that The Descent's Neil Marshall (and earlier, Robert Rodriguez) would direct the next Predator movie, Predators, AICN is now saying that it's confirmed that the director will in fact be Nimrod Antal. Who, you say? You may know him as the director of the snuff film film Vacancy, whose shortcomings didn't really have much to do with direction, so I suppose he's a decent choice (as opposed to a Descent choice, which would've been better). Look for the film to hit theaters in July 2010.

Good News: Jennifer's Body Rated R; Bad News: Not for Nudity

Sorry, fellas, but despite the R rating assigned to the upcoming Megan Fox demon possession vehicle Jennifer's Body (written by Juno's Diablo Cody), it looks like you won't be seeing Fox's goodies in the film. That's because the MPAA rating is "for sexuality, bloody violence, language and brief drug use," NOT nudity. Of course, to anyone who's seen the pics that have been floating around for over a year of her shooting a topless scene in pasties, this should come as no surprise.

In other ratings news, The Final Destination is also rated R. That is all.

New Trailer for The Stepfather Remake!

As the Stepfather remake inches closer (October 16), we get our first look at the trailer, which seems decent enough. Since the original wasn't really a slasher, this PG-13 treatment from the Prom Night folks doesn't seem quite as discouraging as that toothless remake (furiously knocking on wood with fingers crossed).

Magnet to Release House of the Devil

Perhaps spurred by his recent hiring to direct the upcoming Haunting in Connecticut sequel, Ti West's latest flick, The House of the Devil, has been picked up for theatrical distribution by Magnet Releasing. Magnet is the studio that's brought us genre fare like Let the Right One In, Timecrimes, Mutant Chronicles and Shuttle, and as with those films, it's to be expected that the theatrical release of The House of the Devil -- which should be in October -- will be limited.

Let's face it: Hollywood movie posters have become largely a cookie-cutter affair, as predictable as, well, most Hollywood movies themselves. As this gallery shows, though, when movies hit foreign soil, the local flavor often comes through, reminding us that movie posters can indeed be an art form...for better (Poland's The Shining, right) or worse (Japan, I'm looking in your direction).

American Werewolf in London Remake in the Works

Add An American Werewolf in London to the horror remake pile. Bloody-Disgusting.com first reported, and Variety confirmed, that Dimension Films is developing a remake of the iconic 1981 werewolf movie from director John Landis. No talent is lined up yet, but it's being produced by Sean and Bryan Furst, who produced the 2006 supernatural thriller The Woods and the upcoming vampire film Daybreakers. You have to wonder if they'll wait to see how the remake of The Wolf Man fares this fall before delving too deeply into the project.

New This Week: Foreign DVDs Up the Wazoo

Trailer, Poster for Vampire Flick Daybreakers

We have our first look at what might be the first big horror hit of 2010: Daybreakers, a futuristic action hybrid set in a vampire-majority world in which the human food resources have been depleted. Can you say allegory? Allegorical or not, the trailer looks pretty cool. Catch Daybreakers in theaters on January 8.
