Telecommute Employment - Latest Telecommuting Jobs Postings

The latest telecommute employment opportunities have been posted. Last week's international focus didn't seem to go over too well, so I am again focusing on telecommute employment in the U.S. this week, although a few jobs could probably be done from overseas. I'll bring back some international jobs from time to time, as some of you have requested them.

Tell Me How Often You Want Jobs Postings

I've been toying with the idea of offering telecommute employment listings more than just once per week. My thinking is I could post work from home jobs as I find them. This might be one or two telecommuting jobs per day. They would be posted right here on the home page in the blog.

There will be some days when I don't have time to go track them down and post them here, and there will be days where other topics may take priority. But I'm thinking, what if I could include a couple of jobs a few times throughout the week on the home page (no set schedule) - while they're "hot off the presses" and then update the Jobs Posting page every week with all of the work at home jobs I found that week?

Those of you who only want to stop by once a week can continue to do so. Those of you who stop by more often could have an advantage if you decide to apply for one of the jobs in the list, instead of being behind the eight ball because you didn't know about the posting until several days later. I'm all for giving my readers an edge in finding work at home.

BBC Offers Free Careers Interest Quiz Online

The BBC offers a short psychology quiz that can help you identify which types of careers might be most suitable for you. The free, online seven-question career psychology quiz. The quiz is based on John Holland's model of vocational choice. It is an attempt to determine which of the six main types of person you are:

Realistic
Conventional
Social
Enterprising
Artistic
Investigative

The quiz takes about 5 minutes or so to complete. It can be a worthwhile exercise if you are trying to determine what type of work you might be best suited for or help you decide what type of business you might want to start. It's thought provoking and you can't beat the cost (free) or the instant analysis. You aren't asked to provide any personal information whatsoever to take the quiz.

For me, the test results confirmed that I'm already doing exactly what I should be doing. That was comforting.

N.Y. Couple Charged with Running Work at Home Scam

This article in the Mid-Hudson News reports that a New York couple have been arrested by the Feds on charges they ran a work at home business that defrauded people. According to the article, authorities say the couple made more than a million dollars in their scheme.

Both husband and wife were charged with one count of mail fraud, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. The charges came after authorities received multiple complaints from several New York counties and from across the U.S.

The scheme was allegedly carried out online, by mail and in print ads. It involved promising consumers they could earn a "weekly paycheck" while working at home just by labeling postcards that advertised a product called the "Mortgage Accelerator Program." To participate in this work at home program, participants were required to shell out an $80-$90 enrollment fee, after which they were to label and return the postcards and receive payment. Those complaining say they shelled out the money, followed instructions to the letter and never got any money.

It's like I always caution, "Don't buy into someone else's make-money-from-home system. The only ones who get rich are the ones who convince you to hand over your money - not you."

Google Provides Chance to Donate AdSense Earnings to Haiti Relief

Google AdSense AdSense publishers can donate their AdSense earnings that have accrued through January 31, 2010 directly to the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

Google is currently accepting donations from AdSense publishers with an unpaid account balance through January 31, 2010. Donations will go to Partners In Health, to provide medical aid on the ground in Haiti throughout the ongoing reconstruction efforts.

Those of you who are making money with Google AdSense know that Google holds money in your account until you reach a certain threshold (in the U.S. it's $100) and then they issue payment. Is There a Recession-Proof Business or Industry?

The global economy has been in the dumper for quite some time now. In the U.S. "the great recession" has lasted for over two years. And although it seems like we may be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel, we can only hope it's not another train coming at us.

This week's work from home jobs take on an international flair, with work from home opportunities posted for Thailand, the U.K., and Costa Rica.

I've heard from several ex-pats (those who used to live in the U.S.) and others who were looking for opportunities to work from home from within a country overseas.

Using the Forum in Place of Reader Response

I recently blogged about Getting the Most Out of the Forum to Find Work from Home. I've also asked my readers to get involved in the discussions around here, and I'm grateful that many of you have.

One of the great new features that allows you to participate in this growing Home Business/Work at Home Community is what About.com calls "User Answers", which are often labeled as "Readers Respond".

By far, one of the most popular User Answers is the one on Why Do You Work from Home or Want To?. So far, there are more than 100 contributions by readers and a few of my comments on the response that readers like you have left there.

However, many of you are seeking answers when leaving your response. The User Answers feature is really meant to be a one-way communication where you share what's on your mind with other readers. This tool doesn't provide the means for others to contact you and wasn't meant to be a place to ask questions or seek advice.

Back to Basics: How to Set Up a Google Account

As part of my effort to get back to basics this year, I've created a three-step tutorial on how to set up a Google account with details on how to do it. It's not difficult, but I think some of you are not sure how to go about it based on the email I've received.

You'll need a Google account if you want to use any of Google's growing arsenal of free online tools, including but not limited to:

Of course, the list of great Google applications goes on and seems to grow every day, but you get the idea. And, since I'm planning lots more coverage on the basics of Google tools, it only makes sense that I should start with setting up the Google account you're going to need to use any of them.

You can create more than one Google account as long as you associate each account with a different email address. You can also use an established Gmail (Google's web-based free email) address to use any of Google's products. So if you already have a Gmail account you should be all set.

In addition to an overview of Google's free tools and how you can make them work for you, I'm planning to cover how to get a Gmail account in the very near future.

Apple Debuts iPad at Its "Latest Creation" Event

At a live press conference (still going on as this was first posted) today, Apple's Steve Jobs delivered on what was leaked to be a new killer tool from Apple, named the iPad. He didn't disappoint.

I'm not an Apple user - yet. But I have to admit that the graphics and features shown during a nearly-live streaming of the Apple Press Conference Feed on enGadget were very impressive.
