Pictures of Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park truly is one of the most beautiful portions of the United States. On my most recent visit I particularly enjoyed a hike in the Many Glacier region and a trip over the Going-to-the-Sun Road. The weather was gorgeous, and I was able to take some great photos of Glacier National Park's breathtaking scenery. Here they are - enjoy!

"Icons of Washington History" Exhibit at the Washington State History Museum

The new "Icons of Washington History" exhibit at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma will feature items that have come to characterize the state, representing its unique history and culture. These icons include a piece of Galloping Gertie, World's Fair posters and ephemera, Ezra Meeker's oxen and covered wagon, and a Rainier beer-bottle costume from the classic TV commercial. That's a fun and appropriate selection! The "Icons of Washington History" exhibit kicks off on November 11, 2009, and will run through July 3, 2010.

Celebrate Dia de Muertoes at Seattle Center

Dia de Muertos: A Mexican Celebration to Remember Our Departed is a remarkable, colorful festival featuring brilliant sand painting, community altars, sugar skulls, candles, and Mexican art. The Dia de Muertos festivities are part of Festal, a series of free cultural festivals held throughout the year at Seattle Center. Seattle's 2009 Dia de Muertoes celebration will take place on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at the Center House.

The Dia de Muertos or "Day of the Dead" festival is a Mexican cultural event that comes from both indigenous and Spanish traditions and that helps us to remember that nothing is eternal; this event highlights the life-affirming creativeness of the Mexican people with crafts and a procession to remember lost loved ones.
