The Bayou Classic Football Game

It just wouldn't be Thanksgiving weekend in New Orleans if we didn't have the Southern University Jaguars and the Grambling State Tigers fans in town for one of the greatest rivalries in college football, the Bayou Classic. The big game is on Saturday, November 28 at 1 pm in the New Orleans Superdome. If you can't make it to New Orleans, you can watch the game on NBC.

Dreams Come True, A Disney Princess Art Exhibit

Move over Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Ariel, the newest Disney Princess, Tiana, who stars in The Princess and The Frog, will be on the big screen in December. The movie is set in New Orleans in the 1920's Jazz era. You can get an early preview of some of the art work that went into the production of movie at a new and truly unique exhibit at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Dreams Come True is a once in a lifetime chance to see artworks, on loan from the Walt Disney Studio Animation Research Library. They will be accompanied by film clips to demonstrate how individual sketches and paintings lead to a finished celluloid masterpiece. This is a not-to-be-missed exhibit!

New Orleans Becomes Hollywood South

For many years now filmakers have been coming to New Orleans and the surrounding areas to shoot numerous movies. In fact, the list of movies shot in the city and state is considerably long. See for yourself by going to this website

New Orleans homeowner and superstar, Sandra Bullock, has a new release coming out November 20th called "The Blind Side". Bullock is a supporter of local charities and a champion of Warren Easton Charter High School who will be the beneficiary of her generousity. The "red carpet" premiere will be held on November 19th at the only remaining neighborhood movie house left in town, the Prytania Theater, which is located in uptown New Orleans. She will be joined by the movie's producer, director and other celebrities as they stroll down the red carpet for the premiere.

"The Blind Side" is a sports drama based on the true story of Michael Oher who was a homeless and hopeless teenager living in Memphis, Tennessee. Oher was taken in by a family named Tuohy and was afforded a private education and would go on to become an All-American at Ole Miss and a first round draft pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2009.

The city in indeed fortunate to have people of Sandra Bullock's statue who want to locate here and be a big part of what makes New Orleans so special. Kudos to you Ms. Bullock!

Thanksgiving in New Orleans

If you're planning to come to New Orleans over the Thanksgiving Holidays, there's lots to do. The big event is the Bayou Classic Football game. But there are festivals, and great horse racing at the Fairgrounds also. And, just in time for the opening of the newest Disney movie, the Princess and the Frog, set here in New Orleans, there's a major exhibit of Disney Princess art at the New Orleans Museum of Art.

Congo Square Rhythms Festival in New Orleans

The Congo Square Rhythms Festival is a free cultrual event held every November in Armstrong Park. It includes local musicians in every genre, including New Orleans Funk, Cajun/Zydeco, Jazz and R&B. There's always dancers as well, including traditional African Dancers, and the Mardi Gras Indians. This year it's on Novembr 15th.

Swamp Fest at the Audubon Zoo

The National World War 11 Museum Expansion is Coming Soon
